Memories...

This is a post for Saturday. After breakfast Dave and I decided to snorkel again since last night wasn't as successful. The mornings here seem to be most active times for turtles. We actually got surrounded by them while swimming (you can see one in the picture very clearly) but they're pretty harmless if you don't come too close. We also saw some HUGE blue and yellow fish (3-4 feet long!). They were swimming in the middle of the cove and little fish were picking stuff off of them- very funny to see. I was amazed to see how MANY fish there were down there!!! Man, I wish I bought an underwater camera...

Alex was looking for little crabs on the rocks and actually found them- they were hidden in the shells, had blue eyes and red "feet" (I don't know what they're called), and they were crawling in the puddles of water that stays between the rocks after the tide goes back down. Alex also saw a fish "kindergarten" where all the baby fish learn to swim. He enjoyed it the most because he could see them very close.
I found a huge Hibiscus flower on the ground and of course it had to go in my hair.. until it wilted a couple of hours later :( It's getting hotter here every day and winds are dying down.

This is our official family photo of the year. Nana and Pa are getting it for their wall in Hungary (oops, spoiled the surprise).
After snorkeling we got ready and went to Maui Marriott where we stayed last time. The resort is huge, they've built a couple more buildings. It brought back some great memories... This place was Alex's first Hawaii experience. They have a great kiddie pool and Alex wanted to swim there very badly so we promised him we'll come back to stay at this resort very soon!

We walked along the boardwalk of Kaanapali and wondered into the Whaler's village. The food at restaurants there smelled so delicious that we couldn't pass it up- we sat down at the Hula grill. Great place by the way. It's outdoors, right by the beach and views are to die for! Yummy!!!
Walking along the boardwalk we came across the hammocks in the shade and we all jumped on one. The view there was also pretty. Very "classic" Hawaii photo- ocean, beach, and palm trees.
I have to admit it was so comfortable I almost fell asleep- and I would have if family didn't kick me off of it so we could keep going...

The rest of the day we spent driving to the South Maui- Kihei, Wailea and Makena. Kihei we didn't like at all and wouldn't recommend to anyone to stay there. Wailea, however, was beautiful but I could tell- pricey. We stopped at the Wailea beach and spent the rest of the afternoon there. I forgot my camera in the car so no pictures.. We had great fun in the waves, which were a bit bigger than at our beach at Napili. Even Alex, to my surprise, got very comfortable swimming and rocking in the waves. Wow! Then I got bitten by something in the water (I'd like to think it was a jelly fish) but it didn't stop me from swimming (frankly, not many things would...).
In the evening Dave and I had a date and went to the Lahaina Grill- great food and atmosphere- white linens and napkins and classy service. However, not an every day kind of restaurant- $$$$. We had a coupon and I heard great things about it. No regrets. Recommended for once-in-a-lifetime experience. Aloha!

Paulina, you know, this is what vacation does to you: you and Dave look very rested, happy and relaxed (the rest I will tell you when I see you). Your mom looks very young and rejuvenated. I love all your outfits. They look sooooo good on all pictures. Love reading your daily blog, keep posting!

Paulina...I am so jealous and can't wait to get to Kauai in less than a month. But I do have to disagree with you on Kihei. We absolutely love staying there. It's a little less touristy than Lahaina but not as expensive as Wailea or Makena. But its all about personal opinion. I'm sorry you have to come home, it's always very hard to leave when it's such paradise.

Ok, I certainly hope you buy a place over there, with a guest house that your Favorite Sister can come and stay in. What wonderful pictures you have taken. How lucky you are to enjoy this beautiful place in the world. Enjoy your self. Where were the pictures of the Whale? You had the camera. Hope you got me a cute swim skirt to. Do you know my size??

We can't wait to get our picture to put on the wall. Every day sounds so good. I believe that Thuryle Clyde Nelson and her husband are there right now, so if you run into someone who looks like Thuryle, it is. Also I think that Garth and Heather andd their family are leaving today for Hawaii, but I think they are on Oahu. Every day sounds more wonderful. Just keep thinking how nice it will be to see Sandy Cheeks and all your gardens at home. Don't get me a swim skirt. Do you think I could swim in a muumuu?
